Michiel has been giving massages since 2003, and is known for his unique blend of eastern and western styles to improve physical and emotional well-being.
Michiel works therapeutically on physical complaints, as well as helping clients to achieve deep relaxation. His technique, which mixes different massage styles, alternates between intense, deep pressure/kneading and a combination of subtle strokes and stretches. He puts a strong focus on breath work, which allows clients to relax deeply and significantly reduce stress. Michiel believes that when you give the body what it needs, it thrives.
In 2010 Michiel followed an intense 200 hours teacher training and became a certified Vinyasa yoga teacher (Hatha based). He than started to follow trainings in different styles like Prana flow and in 2014 Yin Yoga with Paul and Suzee Grilley. This has become one of his passions and nowadays most of his teachings are Yin or a combination of Yin and Yang. The softness and meditative aspect in this style is what appeals to him. He likes to combine his knowledge of mindfulness with the Yin practice and draws from his huge experience in Thai Yoga to create Yin sequences that are both creative and surprising.
After all these years both massage and yoga come together and create new opportunities for him to explore. In his free time Michiel studies at Phoenix to become a coach and trainer, which he hopes to combine with massage and yoga.
