Mobility and Strength
with Carmen
Mobility & Strength Workshop
In this special workshop, students are introduced to mobility and strength drills that complement and enhance a regular yoga practice in a safe, intelligent, and exploratory way.
While passive stretching can sometimes signal the nervous system to brace rather than open, this workshop offers an alternative approach. Through carefully guided drills inspired by Pilates, functional strength training, and breathwork, students build strength, control, and stability: creating the conditions for sustainable mobility.
As strength in the body increases, students often experience a positive shift not only in how they move, but also in their energy, confidence, and sense of self within their body. This workshop invites students to experience how physical strength can translate into greater energetic stability, confidence, and trust in their own body.
Why Strength & Mobility Matter. Evidence-Based Benefits
Strength training is shown to support healthy aging by preserving muscle mass, joint stability, balance, and bone density. It also improves nervous system regulation, reducing bracing and increasing confidence in movement. Research links strength-based training to improved energy, mood, and self-efficacy, while functional strength becomes increasingly important with age and the physical demands of daily life, including lifting and carrying. This workshop applies these principles in a way that complements yoga and supports long-term physical resilience and body confidence.
What to Expect
In this 2-hour workshop, students will be guided through a progressive, accessible practice combining mobility drills, strength work, and breath awareness. Expect a balanced mix of education, embodied exploration, and practical movement that can be applied directly to a regular yoga practice.
The workshop includes:
• Strength and mobility drills inspired by Pilates, functional strength training, and yoga
• A focus on joint stability, control, and safe range of motion
• Nervous system–aware movement that supports ease rather than force
• Time to explore how strength can support openness, confidence, and trust in the body
Students will leave feeling stronger, more grounded, and more confident in how they move — both on and off the mat.
