Tina Rumenović
Meet our DNYS teacher
Tina Rumenović was born in Croatia where she followed her very first yoga class in 2007. She has practiced several dynamic yoga styles throughout her yogic explorations but has really fallen in love with Ashtanga yoga method. She has been a dedicated Ashtanga yoga practitioner and has kept her daily practice for nearly 12 years now, but has started diving deeper into the practice and study of yoga almost 2 decades ago.
Her daily sadhana (spiritual practice) and her teachers David Robson and Jelena Vesić are her true inspiration. They were direct students of Sharath Jois. Tina says: “I have studied with many reputable ashtanga teachers throughout my study of Ashtanga, but have found a deep human connection and a real inspring teacher/student relationship with David and Jelena and can proudly call them my teachers.”
Tina has been practicing regularly with David and Jelena since 2019. She has done many trainings, retreats, workshops and intensives with them and can confidently share this knowledge further with her own students. Tina is a self proclaimed anatomy nerd and loves to keep learning about the human body and body mechanics. Expect to get lots of useful cues and tips during her classes.
In 2022 Tina started to assist David & Jelena at intensives and retreats around the world and continues to learn regularly from them as much as possible making several trips per year to practice with them in person, as well as weekly online practice when they are not traveling.
In February 2024 Tina made her first trip to Mysore, India, to practice at the source of Ashtanga, with Sharath Jois himself, at the Sharath Yoga Centre. Her second trip happened in February 2025, shortly after his sudden passing, which was a very profound experience making this trip even more special and connection with the global Ashtanga Yoga community even more tight. Tina is determent to keep supporting Sarath’s family and Mysore community and will keep making those trips to learn from the source as often as possible. Sharatji was the Ashtanga Yoga lineage holder and the main authority in Ashtanga yoga since the passing of his grandfather of Pattabhi Jois, the founder of Ashtanga Yoga in 2009.
Tina started to teach yoga in 2014, and has been running a daily Mysore program in Amsterdam since 2019.
Next to sharing the love for Ashtanga Yoga, Tina’s really BIG passion are dogs. Her furry baby, Edgar – a rescue dog from Portugal is the most important being in her life. But next to being a human mom to Edgar Tina also supports the rescue efforts and welfare of street dogs in Mysore, India. When doing her yearly trips to India, you can most likely find her on the streets of Mysore, doing ground rescue work. And when not in India, she does fundraising and admin support to aid the rescue work of local volunteers.
“I look forward to sharing my decade long study of Ashtanga Yoga, and can’t wait to meet you and guide you on your path of discovering this practice and its depths as well. “ – Tina
