Ceremonial Cacao

What is Ceremonial Cacao?
It is a pure and minimally processed form of cacao, traditionally used in rituals and ceremonies by ancient Mesoamerican cultures such as the Mayans and Aztecs. Unlike conventional chocolate, ceremonial cacao is made from heirloom cacao beans, often grown and prepared with reverence to preserve its natural properties.
Rich in antioxidants, magnesium, and theobromine, it is celebrated for its heart-opening and grounding effects, making it a powerful tool for meditation, connection, and personal transformation. Ceremonial cacao is typically consumed as a warm drink, blended with water or plant-based milk, and sometimes enhanced with spices like cinnamon or chili.
This sacred plant medicine is not just a treat but an invitation to slow down, set intentions, and connect with yourself, others, and the natural world.
Contra-indications
Ceremonial cacao is safe to drink, but there are a few important considerations to keep in mind:
- It’s advisable to avoid coffee on the day of the ceremony and to refrain from eating for at least two hours beforehand to enhance your connection with the cacao.
- If you’re taking antidepressants, it’s recommended to drink only a small amount of cacao or not drink it at all, as combining it with antidepressants can cause adverse effects, such as severe headaches.
- If you’re pregnant, please opt for a smaller dose of cacao or refrain from drinking it entirely.
- For those with high blood pressure or heart conditions, please consult with your healthcare provider beforehand.
