2,5 Day Immersion & Study of Asana Energetics

“Body to shape the breath, breath to shape the mind , mind to connect into source”

Mastering Asana is not just about the perfect shape. Instead it’s about knowing and experiencing what the shapes do. Each asana impacts our physiology (body), energy, and mind in a specific way. And in the yoga tradition, there are thousands.

In terms of spinal orientation, however – there are six main pose categories as defined by the great yogi and master Krishnamacharya. Each group of Asana influences us in a specific way and so serves a different purpose on our yogic path.

For example, forward folds and twists are calming and grounding, while laterals and backbends are energizing. Lastly, extensions and inversions are uplifting and inspiring. With this in mind, it’s essential to know the difference for teachers and students who want to understand the energetic purpose behind each posture.

What?

In this 2,5 day workshop we’ll explore the six spinal pose categories in depth. For each group of asanas, you’ll experience a full practice — including asana, pranayama, and meditation.

Afterwards, we’ll engage in a hands-on session to explore and reflect on the unique qualities of each category. Together, we’ll look at: physical alignment and energy flow, the breath and energy as tools to shape the mind within the pose, and finally the overall energetic impact of the practice.

What you will take home after this 2,5 day training

  • A better understanding of the physical, mental and energetic effects of yoga asana
  • Learn to use and differentiate your breath in different asana’s to support the pose and enhance the energetic effects of your practice
  • Knowledge of the Vayu’s; the energy currents in the body and how they influence your state.
  • How to build and sequence your yoga practice towards a specific outcome (grounded, calm, vitalized, inspired etc.)
  • How to integrate this knowledge into your teachings and direct your classes more purposeful.
  • Use this understanding to fit your personal needs in practice; your state of mind, body, time of day, month etc.
