From a young age, Marjolein always wanted to help others, but she never quite knew how. Always saving bugs or wanting to comfort others. Should she become a vet? A doctor? After a long time of not knowing and self-doubting, she ended up studying Clinical Psychology in her hometown Amsterdam. That is when yoga first entered her life. It was love at first sight. Her posture and energy changed, as well as how she perceived life.
After her Masters, she found herself in an inner struggle. Topics like self-love and the soul weren’t even mentioned once during all those years of studying. It had been all about the mind, without even considering the body. Yet when she moved the body during her practice, often emotions would rise to the surface.
Trying to fit into that mind-oriented world while at the same time going through her spiritual awakening eventually led to a burnout. Even though it was a challenging period, that burnout was the best gift life could give her at that moment. Everything came to a halt and she was forced to look at her life and reflect: which felt like getting a second chance at life.
Yoga gave her so much comfort in that period. When someone recommended yoga nidra, her first experience blew her away. She walked out of the studio with new energy, empowered and inspired. Amazed by that powerful change inside of her and triggered by her background in Psychology, she wanted to know more. More sessions followed and one day her heart guided her to pick up a card. It was a flyer for a yoga nidra teacher training.
During her training, her purpose in life became clear again, finally knowing now how to help others: by using her calming energy and soothing voice. By embracing her power, every week she lets herself be inspired by the moment. She shares her stories and life lessons, coming straight from the heart. Next to yoga nidra, Marjolein also teaches restorative yoga, which is perfect for those who like to move a little bit, yet still relax deeply. After a class with Marjolein, big chance you will feel deeply relaxed, inspired and ready for the rest of your day.
Next to yoga, she is very passionate about her vegan lifestyle, traveling, enjoying music and dancing through life with her loved ones and friends. A huge fan of both Star Wars and Star Trek. Confetti addict. As a born and raised Amsterdam she easily starts chatting with anyone on the street and nothing makes her happier than simply biking along the canals on a perfect sunny day. Slowly her apartment in the Rivierenbuurt is turning into a cozy jungle where her cat Monster rules the palace.
