Autumn equinox yin yoga and qi gong workshop with Anita
EQUINOX YIN YOGA AND QI GONG WORKSHOP
The autumn equinox signifies the first day of autumn and is a time of equal day and night. It is an opportunity to ground, find balance and turn our energy inwards. Throughout time and cultures, autumn has been a time to assess what we have cultivated, what we need to hold on to and what we need to release. After the active yang energy of summer, it’s a time to slow down and take time for regenerating practices such as yin yoga, qi gong, meditation and pranayama (breath work).
During the equinox we can look at nature, the rhythm of the planet and the continuous cycle of change for guidance. We can observe the plants letting go of their leaves, shedding what is no longer useful or necessary. As the days become shorter and the nights grow longer we can observe these environmental forces encouraging us to draw inwards, let go and surrender to a quieter time.
During this workshop we will align our internal rhythm with the natural rhythm of the Earth. We will acknowledge what we have harvested and establish what we can shed. We will practice yin yoga poses which physically and energetically stimulate the lungs and large intestines. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine these organs and meridians (energy lines) are associated with autumn and our ability to receive and release. We will practice a cleansing qi gong sequence designed to release the yang summer energy and draw in the yin autumn energy. We will practice reflection to help us draw inwards, meditation to help us to shed what is no longer necessary and pranayama to help us find balance.
