Slow yoga to relax into the weekend with Alison Melvin
"In an age of acceleration, nothing can be more exhilarating than going slow.
In an age of distraction, nothing is so luxurious as paying attention.
In an age of constant movement, nothing is so urgent as sitting still."
― Pico Iyer
The antidote to our busy lifestyle is to practice the art of relaxation. To learn how to simply pause in the middle of our busy life to reconnect with our body, breath and inner feelings. As we learn to let go of our to-do lists and the need to achieve and do "more", this extended practice is an invitation and a reminder to do less. Less is sometimes more.
With the focus on mindful yoga for relaxation, this workshop is a combination of Yin, Restorative and Yoga Nidra practices.
Yin yoga to stretch and stimulate the deeper tissues of the body for increased mobility as well as to promote the circulation of chi to the organ systems for greater energy and vitality.
Restorative yoga to lovingly hold the body in poses of ease and comfort to release deep held tensions. A sequence of supported poses to stimulate the body's natural "rest and repair" response to promote natural healing and a feeling of deep rest.
Yoga Nidra to reconnect with a feeling of inner spaciousness in our body, heart and mind. To remind ourselves of our aspirations, hopes and dreams from a place of inner stillness.
