Metal (LUNG AND LARGE INTESTINES MERIDIANS)
Nourish and balance the Lung and Large Intestines meridians and tune into the Autumn season.
In a series of five workshops Yin yoga teacher, Alison Melvin and acupuncturist, Roslyn Go will deepen your understanding of Yin yoga and how it relates to Chinese medicine and the meridian system. Looking at each of the five elements in turn, we will practice with the relevant Yin-Yang meridians and work with nourishing the emotions connected with the corresponding organs.
Central to Daoist philosophy are the concepts of Yin-Yang (the Dao) and the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water). The Dao is the intrinsic balance of everything. It is the tranquility found in the middle of all events, and the path leading to the centre. It gives us a perspective that helps us to find balance among these changing elements which make up every aspect of nature and as human beings, we are an integral part of it.
According to Chinese Medicine the Autumn season represents the Metal element, which in the body is connected to the Lung and Large intestine organs, responsible for separating what is essential from the waste. When the metal Qi(energy) is flowing in the body we feel harmonious, spacious and free on a physical, mental and emotional level.
We will reflect on what this season honours; the importance of letting go so we are able to keep moving forwards. As the nights grow longer, the temperatures drop and the leaves change colour, nature make its preparations for the long rest of Winter ahead. It is a time for us to slow down, store away what we need and to let go of what is no longer useful.
The workshop will end with Roslyn giving a mini-acupuncture session during Savasana to balance and experience the flow of Qi.
Alison and Roslyn are excited to share their passion and knowledge with you in these unique Yin yoga and TCM workshops. All workshops are open to everyone with an interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine and/or Yin yoga. No previous yoga experience is required.
Yin Yoga respects the individual, their body and physical and mental condition, and is suitable for people of all ages.
